Here are two real life examples that show just how costly long haul photo shoots really are when true costs are taken into account.
Client A had arranged to shoot all their outdoor products in South Africa. It was a week-long shoot costing, on average, around £10,000 for each day on location. On top of this, it cost £38,000 to ship the products to South Africa and another £3,100 for the client's team to be there.
Compare this to the costs of the same shoot at our unique facility near Faro in the Algarve. The average daily cost is the same, but the add-ons, shipping and travel etc are less than a tenth of the price. On a week's shoot, this means a saving of around 40%.
Client B had made similar arrangements. In this case it was a fashion shoot planned for the Caribbean. The original plan for a two day shoot had a total budget of £35,000. But it also required the client's team to be away from the office for more than a week in total and to suffer the debilitating effects of jet lag.
Our solution was to shoot in the Algarve, where we have more than 200 ready scoped locations for every type of fashion shoot (including the former home of the editor of Vogue!). The cash saving for our proposal was a modest 15% ... but the time saving for our client's team was worth at least double that.
